A passagem da Secretária Estadual de Meio Ambiente Jussara Cony por Mampituba durante a IV Festa da Natureza foi marcada pela apresentação de um grande desafio, talvez um dos maiores já enfrentados pelo município em seus 15 anos de administração política. Em seu discurso durante a Abertura Oficial do evento a Secretária acenou com a possibilidade da inclusão de Mampituba no Roteiro Oficial de acesso ao Parque Nacional Aparados da Serra em Cambará do Sul, onde localiza-se o Canyon Itaimbezinho, que deverá ser um dos pontos turísticos mais visitados no país durante a Copa do Mundo. Para o turista que estiver em Porto Alegre durante a Copa, alguns roteiros turísticos serão apresentados, e entre eles estará o Itaimbezinho, que deverá ter dois acessos oficiais, ligando o parque até a capital gaúcha, cidade que receberá 5 jogos da Copa envolvendo países de vários continentes.
O primeiro acesso e com certeza o mais utilizado, deverá passar pela Serra Gaúcha em cidades como São Francisco de Paula, Canela e Gramado. A segunda alternativa entretanto seguirá pelo litoral, via BR 101 e RS 494, passando por Três Cachoeiras, Morrinhos do Sul e Mampituba, seguindo por Praia Grande e pela Serra do Faxinal até chegar em Cambará do Sul.
O amigo leitor poderá questionar se Mampituba já está preparado para receber turistas do mundo inteiro? Com certeza eu afirmo que hoje não estaria, mas considerando a evolução do município no turismo nos últimos 18 meses, eu não duvido da capacidade de nossa gente em encarar e superar tal desafio. A Cidade dos Vales e das Cascatas poderá daqui três anos ser conhecida internacionalmente, e o turismo enfim se consolidar como uma alternativa econômica real para suprir as dificuldades enfrentadas atualmente pela agricultura familiar.
Se olharmos para trás, até pouco tempo o turismo em Mampituba era algo tão distante, que nossos principais pontos turísticos eram desconhecidos até pela própria população. Agora a realidade mudou bastante, a Cascata dos Borges já virou roteiro que está sendo comercializado e a Serra do Silveirão, que na minha opinião é nosso principal atrativo, já deixou de ser um local inacessível, para em breve tornar-se um parque ecológico e começar a receber visitantes das mais diversas regiões do Brasil e do Mundo.
Falando em Serra do Silveirão, a última terça-feira foi um dia histórico para a região, onde pela primeira vez um ônibus subiu aquela serra levando visitantes. Tratava-se de servidores municipais de Mampituba que foram na grande maioria conhecer o local num momento de confraternização pelo sucesso da IV Festa da Natureza. Isso aconteceu graças há um intenso trabalho da Administração Municipal em recuperar aquele acesso que foi aberto nos anos 70, com o único objetivo de permitir o desmatamento daquela área de onde saíram centenas de caminhões de madeiras (pinheiros) e erva-mate indiscriminadamente. Hoje os tempos são outros e novas perspectivas estão surgindo, oportunidades que não podemos desperdiçar, porque o futuro está pedindo passagem e Mampituba precisa fazer parte deste futuro.

Speaking of Serra do Silveirão, last Tuesday was a historic day for the region, where he first saw a bus that went up leading visitors.
